PHOTO ESSAY: Sweden's Unexpected Obsession With American Cars

“When you forget about all the Volvos and you take away the language, I had the feeling of being on an American road trip: I saw American cars all the time and in everyday situations like at this mall parking lot with its lone Cadillac,” says Schmatz. “In Sweden, the well-maintained roads are often wide and empty – perfect for driving these huge cars.”
