4 Top Hotels for Beer Lovers

A hotel hop for a beer-inspired stay.

Kerry Hotel Pudong

1. Kerry Hotel Pudong

Shanghai
At the Brew bar, try one of six handcrafted beers (like the popular IPA, which tastes of mango and passionfruit), then ask for a tour of the brewery from award-winning brewer Leon Mickelson, a New Zealander who's been at it for over 15 years. When you've had your fill, head upstairs to rest your head on a pillow ordered off the hotel's extensive pillow menu.

2. Dogfish Inn

Lewes, Delaware

Opened last year, this retrofitted 1950s motel is the work of Delaware brewery Dogfish Head, one of the best in the country. Each of the 16 rooms has a fridge filled with snacks, like homemade pickles, and beer accoutrements (glasses, openers) but, funnily, no beer. Stock up on the signature 60 Minute IPA at the nearby liquor store, then spend the evening around the Cowboy Cauldron (a big outdoor fireplace).
105 Savannah Rd., 302-644-8292

3. Calistoga Inn

Calistoga, California

It may be deep in the heart of wine country, but with an award-winning craft brewery and a beer garden on site, this little inn is all about hops. Follow brewmaster Brad Smisloff up the historic water tower for a tour, then sample one of his creations (the Calistoga Red Ale is a favourite). After dinner, retire to one of the 17 cottage-chic rooms for a nightcap – just remember to nab a bottle from downstairs.

4. Augustine Prague

Prague
While the Augustine Prague is still home to practising monks (an original 13th-century wood door leads to the adjacent St. Thomas Church), this hotel is certainly not the place for abstention. The basement bar serves St. Thomas beer, a dark and warm lager with undertones of caramel and coffee that's brewed on site by the monks, who use the same technique they've been employing for centuries.
