Amsterdam’s 5 Most Breathtaking Design Hotels

You’ll never forget your stay at these hotels that exude playful Dutch design sensibility.

Conservatorium Hotel

Once a bank and a music school, this Museumplein building has been transformed into a luxury hotel. An angular steel staircase dominates the lobby, where Italian designer Piero Lissoni accents the spaces with Barcelona daybeds, Cassina chairs and an inner courtyard with a glass roof. Guest room decor plays with high-low and past-present contrasts. An Old Master print and a pair of creamy porcelain “wooden” clogs hang next to a bed with crisp white linens. Tunes Restaurant and Bar, run by Dutch star chef Schilo van Coevorde, serves a must-try white asparagus with Ibérico ham when it’s in season. To meet some locals, stop by the hotel’s pool; with the exception of the canals, it’s now the chic Amsterdammer’s favourite body of water.
