The 2011 Air Canada enRoute Hotel Design Awards

Forget the maple leaf patch on your suitcase. These days, there are infinitely more tasteful ways to express your national pride while travelling. From Vancouver and New York to London and Udaipur, Canadian architects and interior designers are creating hotels that boost our international reputation – and make our stays more enjoyable. To celebrate the success of our homegrown talent, enRoute assembled a panel of experts – Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola, Belgian architect Jean-Michel Gathy and Canadian architects Todd Saunders and Jean Pelland (see here for their backgrounds) – to choose the winners in each of our 10 competition categories. The only conditions were that the properties be designed principally by Canadians and that they serve to enrich our travel experience. You’ll never feel homesick again.
