W Minneapolis – The Foshay, Minneapolis

Despite the name of this category, there’s nothing standard about these rooms. The hotel is housed in an Art Deco building where each room has different dimensions. To make the most of the space’s idiosyncrasies, Munge Leung drew inspiration from them and decorated the rooms in gold, blue and ochre accents characteristic of the architectural period. The result is glamorous comfort: Think black mohair and patent leather chairs and mirrored nightstands that will make you wish you could spend the day in bed.

Sparkling Hill
Tub with a View

The best new accessory in bathroom design may well be what lies beyond it. At Sparkling Hill, look up from your tub at a panorama of Okanagan Lake and the Monashee Mountains. And while soaking at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, take in the views of the green roof that tops the Vancouver Convention Centre, seen from several of the hotel’s rooms and suites.
