First up, feast your ears on this tasty little compilation of Food Anthems. Ranging from “Egg Man” by the Beastie Boys and “Chicken in a Box” by Mr. Scruff to “Cheese Cake” by the awesome Dexter Gordon, this one-of-a-kind playlist will surely whet your appetite to take a bite out of our Food Issue.

Of course, we’ve also got loads of food-themed treats on the movie channel this month. Try the delicious Julie & Julia, Oscar winner Babette’s Feast or the lip-smackingly wonderful Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp in Chocolat. Julie & Julia is an especially tasty film: Streep’s performance is pitch perfect and the whole thing makes you want to spend your weekend in the kitchen mastering French cooking Julia child style. For something equally engrossing that might have the opposite effect, check out the highly acclaimed documentary Food Inc. on the Avant-Garde channel; you’ll never look at your dinner the same way again!

And for a lighter snack, there’s loads of TV to choose from. The W Network has a new offering called Chef Worthy that will have you coming back for more. By day these amateur chefs are bankers, teachers, lawyers, government workers and home makers, but by night they’re locked in an intense culinary rivalry. Put them under the watchful eye of master chef Michael Potters and wait for the sparks to fly. This show is worth watching for Potters alone; he makes Gordon Ramsey look like Jamie Oliver. Over on the travel channel we have 3 episodes of the glorious Spain: On the Road Again. The show features Iron Chef Mario Batali and New York Times food critic Mark Bittman, as well as lovelies Gwyneth Paltrow and Claudia Bassols, eating their way across Spain.
