Frankfurters are relishing some unique toppings these days. San Francisco Bay’s Doggy-Style Hotdogs spices things up with pico de gallo, cilantro mayonnaise and crumbled tortilla chips (the Kimchi Pyro comes slathered with kimchee, spicy mayonnaise and slices of Persian cucumber). Crif Dogs in New York serves a Tsunami: bacon-wrapped dogs with teriyaki, pineapple and green onions. And the wieners from Picton, Ontario’s Buddha Dog – supplied by Aman’s Abattoir in nearby Wellington – come with a daily sauce (jalapeño tequila jelly) and cheese (local Fifth Town Plain Jane Chèvre). Hot diggity.
