01 Alambika
This store is very much in line with our philosophy; it’s run by a young entrepreneur who saw a growing demand from cocktail enthusiasts craving real ingredients – as opposed to chemical chasers – and looking for high-quality tools.
1515, av. Van Horne, 514-400-9212, alambika.ca

02 Chez Tousignant
This is our generation’s greasy spoon: a snack bar where almost everything is homemade, from the all-beef hot dogs to the buttery buns, though our favourite has to be the classic poutine. The owners took an old concept and made it better.
6956, rue Drolet, 438-386-6368, cheztousignant.com

03 Chez Vincenzo
We held our first company meeting here, over espresso and pistachio gelato. They serve some of the top coffee in the city, not to mention that the owner learned how to make gelato in Italy, so you know you’re getting the real deal.
500, rue Villeray, 514-508-5031, chezvincenzo.com

04 Death of Vinyl
You can spend a whole afternoon perusing the used records and listening to new music at this vinyl-centric shop. We’ve discovered some great funk tracks from the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s here. It’s unpretentious, which is the word that best describes Montreal too.
6307, boul. Saint-Laurent, 514-495-2786, deathofvinyl.com

05 M.Mme
When we first heard this wine bar was in the works, the scale seemed unbelievable; there are over 600 labels on the list. Chef Stelio Perombelon’s food is a perfect complement to the wines they offer. It’s really a benchmark in Montreal, which proves how developed Quebec’s wine industry has become.
240, av. Laurier O., 514-274-6663, mmme.ca

06 Mai Xiang Yuan
Theirs are the best dumplings in Montreal. We’ll often order the pork and dried mushroom ones to go; the warm broth explodes in your mouth. It’s fun to watch them make the dumplings through the window.
1084, boul. Saint-Laurent, 514-875-1888
