Kandle released her solo debut, Mercy, in 2012. When she’s not touring the world with her latest album, In Flames, the indie folk-rocker calls Montreal home. She shares the local spots that light up her day-to-day.

01 Lustre Boutique
Yasmine Wasfy makes clothes for everyone and alters each piece to fit your body to perfection. Nearly all of my stage outfits are her handiwork. I also enjoy cuddling her sweet Newfie mutt, Daisy.
4068, boul. Saint-Laurent, 514-288-7661,

02 Café Santropol
Santropol serves some of the most delicious sandwiches, like the Duluth, with old cheddar, caramelized onions, pear and arugula. You can easily spend hours there reading a good book and enjoying a fancy coffee or homemade vegetarian chili.
3990, rue Saint-Urbain, 514-842-3110,

03 Le Vieux Vélo
This is my favourite breakfast spot. It has an eclectic mix of patrons, and they play cool music. I usually order Le Marin: cream-cheese scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, salad, toast with homemade jam and a huge coffee!
59, rue Beaubien E., 514-439-5595

04 Salmigondis
This beautiful restaurant has great service, fancy cocktails and an ever-changing, creative menu. Some of my favourites are their zucchini flowers with ricotta, tomato and hemp hearts, the lobster with trout caviar – and, for the grand finale, the caramel flan.
6896, rue Saint-Dominique, 514-564-3842,

05 Two Horses Salon
This is my go-to hair salon, and it doubles as a tattoo parlour. The owners, Sara-Isobel Mulder and Jessi Preston, have created a funky, unique space decorated with old and new art. Classic rock tunes set the vibe – I recently had my hair cut to Tom Petty.
170, rue Jean-Talon O., 438-383-1565,

06 Marché Jean-Talon
This is the place I dream about when I’ve been touring and living off fast food. It’s filled with fruits, vegetables, artisanal baked goods, flowers and seafood. Fromagerie Hamel has every cheese ever and the Polish donuts by the entrance are so good.
7070, av. Henri-Julien, 514-277-1588,
