01 Centre Island

The ferry ride in itself is a highlight when you're spending the weekend with the kids in the city. In nice weather you can also rent a bike or check out the beach. It's like a mini-vacation.

02 The Spoke Club

There's always something social happening here, so it's a great home away from home, especially if you want a nice dinner but don't want to do the dishes. Plus, it's the only place in the city that knows how to make a French martini the way I like it.

03 Bata Shoe Museum

My grandmother, Sonja Bata, founded this museum. She always said you could learn a lot about a person by looking at their shoes. The collection includes Marilyn Monroe's pumps and a training boot for the lunar landing.

04 Playa Cabana

My husband and I come here often enough that the bartender sends over tequila, even on a Monday night. I always order the soft chicken tacos, and my husband gets the burrito. It's very much the perfect neighbourhood nook for a quick and easy dinner out.

05 Holt Renfrew

I like to go to the Bloor Street Holt Renfrew location on my birthday; I get my hair done at the spa and then treat myself to the café! And this spring is an exciting time because Uncrate Africa is launching, with unique finds from around the continent and collaborations with Stella Jean and Dannijo.

06 889 Yoga

This is a tranquil place for rehabilitation and for taking your mind off of the chaos. I'll sometimes even just run in to grab a Belmonte Raw juice. I love the incredible roster of classes: yoga for all levels, meditation and a fusion of yoga and Pilates.
