Nora Gray - Montreal

We won’t judge you for singing along to Tears for Fears. It tends to happen here. Nora Gray has the ambience of a retro rec room, the slick wood-panelled basement of that friend from high school with the loaded, possibly swinging, parents. Business cards printed on Scopa decks tempt you to slide into a riveted booth and start playing a game. If there’s a sense of a private party going on, an appreciation for 1980s music, Italian wedding soup and unfiltered wines will get you in. Sicily’s cult winemaker Arianna Occhipinti is a favourite here, but first get a Henry Rollins with Hendrick’s gin and Suze – a bitter riff on a Tom Collins.
