Our Top 5 Al Fresco Showers
Who needs shelter? Some of favourite vacation spots embrace open-air showering… and so do we.

Le Maitai Dream Fakarava – Fakarava, Tahiti
You soap up just outside your private Polynesian beach bungalow in a traditional Tahitian shower that's partially open to the sky (but ingeniously designed for maximum privacy). As for the soundtrack, the South Pacific laps against the coral on the other side of the wall.
Molori Safari Lodge – Madikwe, South Africa
Thanks to the dense foliage and stone walls surrounding your suite at the Molori Safari Lodge, your private outdoor shower – fashioned inside a giant piece of driftwood – can be enjoyed in complete privacy, with plenty of Acqua di Parma toiletries on hand.
Jade Mountain – St. Lucia
The dramatic view of the Pitons – reflected serenely in your infinity pool – from your glass-tiled shower will never be fogged over thanks to Jade Mountain’s open air concept. The downside? The rain shower with six massage jets at adjustable heights may mean you miss your early morning yoga class.
The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua – Maui, Hawaii
This Maui institution was recently treated to $180 million makeover that introduced, among many other delightful surprises, private shower gardens for each of the renowned spa’s 15 treatment rooms.
Wimco Villa MAS BAL – St. John
The interior shower in this St. John’s villa is just like any other, with one exception: slide open the glass door and you can take your loofah outside. Surrounded by natural stones, low walls and columns, this is how Caesar must have bathed – just without the breathtaking view of the Caribbean.
