All over the world, these colourful works of art publicized everything from new destinations to aircraft and services.

This 1948 poster shows how quickly the air industry grew. Just over a decade after the inaugural Trans-Canada Air Lines (TCA) flight, the airline was offering daily travel between Canada and the United States. On December 31 that year, TCA serviced its 2-millionth passenger: W.W. Taylor, a Vancouver hardware merchant, who received a leather travelling bag and a TCA parka to mark the occasion.
