Just 50 minutes by train from central London, the seaside city of Brighton and Hove has a well-deserved reputation for decadent good times and downright bad behaviour. From its exotic Taj Mahal-like Pavilion (the ex-pleasure palace of the Prince Regent) to its rock ’n’ roll history of mods and rockers thrashing it out on the pebbly beach, Brighton has always celebrated its rebellious streak. However, when it comes to taking afternoon tea, even the Brighton free spirits take this very British ritual seriously.
