Tucked just off the 405 Freeway, this single-screen gem is the place to catch new independent and foreign films that you’d struggle to find at the multiplex. A recent weekday matinee for Ireland’s Oscar-nominated animated film Song of the Sea saw a packed house. It’s a good place to snack too. Local food truck Coolhaus is there to serve must-try ice cream sandwiches inspired by architects – try the Mies Vanilla Rohe – but the Nuart also knows movie snacks well enough to store its Junior Mints in the freezer. Every Saturday at midnight, the theatre hosts a rollicking screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with live actors from the shadow cast troupe Sins O’ The Flesh. Toast!
