When your usual hole-in-the-wall Chinese eatery can’t accommodate your large dinner clique, head to P.F. Chang’s. The much-loved American chain, known for its fusion of traditional Chinese cuisine and modernized dishes (think gluten-free chicken lettuce wraps and breaded ‘dynamite’ shrimp), has set up shop just a short drive from downtown Montreal. With its dark wood, stacked stone columns and glass staircase, the two-storey venue could pass for a nightclub, but traditional accents like the large-scale Chinese print hanging overhead proudly display the restaurant’s roots. Even the cocktail menu is balanced between authentic and inventive – call it the yin and yang – with drinks like the Asian pear mojito and the Sichuan Mary.
