The 5,000-acre Forest Park is one of the biggest urban parks in the world, filled with old-growth forest and a network of easily navigable trails maintained by runners and hiking enthusiasts who work at nearby Nike. It’s the perfect way to taste the ruggedness of the Pacific Northwest without venturing more than a few kilometres from downtown. Don’t forget sneakers and a camera. Head west out of the Pearl District on Thurman Street, past St. Honoré Bakery, until you come to the park entrance at Lower MacLeay Park.
