The rectangular 1,017-acre park is similar in shape to Central Park in New York City but is 20 percent larger. Best traversed by bicycle, Golden Gate Park contains attractions like the de Young Museum, the Conservatory of Flowers, the California Academy of Sciences (a.k.a. “The World’s Greenest Museum”), the Japanese Tea Garden, the San Francisco Botanical Garden at Strybing Arboretum, and even a buffalo paddock. Locals ride to the end where the park meets the Pacific Ocean, soak in the view and refuel for the ride back with a meal and a microbrew at the Beach Chalet Restaurant (1000 Great Highway).
