The upside of the economic downturn has been the proliferation of the do-one-thing-do-it-well eatery. Staffed by rugged men with knives, Meat and Bread serves single-minded meals in a taxidermy-positive room. That means just four sandwiches daily – always starring porchetta – and a couple of salads. Plus a maple bacon ice cream sandwich for good measure.
