Want to know where Canada’s top chefs go on vacation? Here’s what they had to say about their upcoming travel plans.

Todd Perrin from Mallard Cottage

“I am hoping to visit New York City with my wife and daughter again this winter. I love the Chelsea Market and I always pay a visit to JB Prince to grab a few kitchen toys. My wife and daughter are knitters and sewers, so the Garment district is a must for us. Some of our favourite restaurants: Montmartre for brunch, Txikito for tapas, Il Buco Alimentari e Vineria for Italian. We’ll probably stay at the James Hotel in Soho: love the location, the corner suites and the great staff!”

David McMillan from Vin Papillon

“In true snowbird fashion, I’ll be taking Air Canada to Miami for Christmas — an easy, direct flight from Montreal. The city has some great children's entertainment and restaurants: Lucali pizza, Pubbelley, The Cypress Room, Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, Sardinia, and Makoto for the sushi.”

Jenna Mooers from Edna

“New York City for a three-day workshop called Creating Raves at the Union Square Hospitality Group. The purpose of the trip is the workshop, but I am also planning to take in some of the city’s great restaurants. Danny Meyer’s Gramercy Tavern is on my list (I have been there once before and had an amazing experience). I would also love to find some really good Pho in New York — any suggestions?”

Dale MacKay from Ayden

“Toronto with my co-owner Christopher Cho. I'll be cooking alongside 40 great chefs from across the country as part of a fundraiser in support of healthy and green cities. Being a chef takes me to a lot of places. I look forward to the travels but mostly to work alongside and collaborate with other greats chefs from across the globe. While we're in Toronto we have already made reservations at Bar Isabel and Parts & Labour.”

Blair Lebsack from RGE RD

“Our next trip is to Vietnam. Hoi An is a market city and we want to see how local flavours are influencing the cuisine. We’ll also take in the architecture, culture and the nearby beaches. We will hopefully be traveling with Caitlin's sister-in-law who has family in Vietnam so we will be personally guided.”

Nick Nutting from Wolf in the Fog

“I'm thinking the next trip is going to be to Hawaii, camping on the island of Kauai with my girlfriend Hailey. Cook over a fire. Explore and have an adventure!”
