Checking In: Kimpton Saint George Hotel
An artful retreat in the heart of the city.
The Kimpton Saint George Hotel may be steps from both the Royal Ontario Museum and the Bata Shoe Museum, but one need not leave the property to take in Canadian art. The hotel’s latest commission, “Oasis” by Igbo-Nigerian-born and Toronto based artist Kanna Anigbogu, casts a calming energy along the main floor hallway.
In every room a hand-dipped “Marble Moon” by Ottawa artist Laura Langford shines over a jewel-toned palette and stylish furnishings. Behind the armoire door, another artful surprise: An albino squirrel perched in homage to the white critters found nearby in Trinity Bellwoods park. If you care to indulge in the art of relaxation, a yoga mat rests at the ready.
For a more up-tempo workout, head to the second-floor fitness centre where a Peloton and cardio machines are available 24/7. When you’re ready to take to the streets, swap your stationary wheels for a complimentary PUBLIC bike and hit the ground pedalling.
